Welcome to this week's Saddle Up Live.

2

:

I am excited to have you here.

3

:

This is a special episode.

4

:

It, I was going through like past

episodes that I had done and I, I forgot

5

:

all about this one and sometimes if

I've done an episode in the past on

6

:

doing divorce different, that would

really align nicely with Settle Up Live.

7

:

I like to.

8

:

Pull it up and, and, uh.

9

:

Take it out of the archives and I'm

putting it forward in Saddle Up Live

10

:

because it's so telling how it is

really all about what I talk about now.

11

:

I was so fortunate way back in

the beginning of doing divorce

12

:

different, I was able to get this

young man, his name is Carrie Jack.

13

:

He's known as the Happy Hustler.

14

:

He was on Entrepreneurs On.

15

:

Fire podcast and just like a really

well-known fella and he chose to come

16

:

on my podcast, which was so lovely.

17

:

Um, it touches a little bit

on some divorce issues, but

18

:

it's so interesting to me.

19

:

To see where I've grown and what

I've learned, especially since going

20

:

through something else really hard,

like a little diagnosis that I had.

21

:

So I think this information is really

something that's great for people

22

:

going through any hard time divorce or

anything, and just, he talks about living

23

:

a happy life and it was very eye-opening.

24

:

For me, and please excuse the audio.

25

:

Obviously I was not, um,

at my top at that time.

26

:

His sounds great because he's a pro.

27

:

Um, but my voice could get a little

echoey and weird sometimes, but I

28

:

think the content is so good that

I'm gonna put it out there anyway,

29

:

and I hope you enjoy it as much as

I enjoyed taping it and listening to

30

:

it again, take good care, listen up.

31

:

Speaker: Welcome listeners.

32

:

I am so thankful for today's guest.

33

:

You know, I help people through divorce

and I reached out to Carry Jack.

34

:

I always think of you

as the happy hustler.

35

:

I heard this amazing young man on

entrepreneurs on Fire, and Carrie

36

:

Jack, you were talking about.

37

:

The 10 alignments and how

to find blissful balance.

38

:

And I am always wanting to add value to my

clients going through divorce and to help

39

:

them work together to help their kiddos.

40

:

Um, you know, and I know that's something

that was kind of a reason that you.

41

:

Decided to do this podcast because

you are kind of a big deal.

42

:

And so I appreciate, I

43

:

Speaker 2: don't know about that,

44

:

Speaker: you are, I appreciate that

you are willing to add value to my

45

:

listeners' lives by sharing, the 10

alignments you have a book, you're

46

:

very successful Your podcast is.

47

:

Amazing.

48

:

we are just so thankful to have you here

today if we can jump right in to some

49

:

of the 10 alignments to help us find

balance even when some of my clients

50

:

aren't happy going through the divorce,

maybe we can get them in a better

51

:

balanced area and the future of happiness.

52

:

Speaker 2: Yeah.

53

:

First off, thank you for having me, Lisa.

54

:

I appreciate you and the invite.

55

:

And you know, I felt called to do your

show and I mentioned pre-chat just

56

:

because I did go through a gut wrenching

divorce myself as a, you know, an

57

:

early, teen slash, you know, I think I

was 10 actually, so probably pre-teen.

58

:

I just want to add value to those

going through something similar

59

:

because it really is a tough time.

60

:

And so if, my message can resonate

and even just help positively

61

:

impact just one listener, I would

consider it time well spent.

62

:

So yeah, the 10 alignments are basically,

my framework for happy hustling, a

63

:

blissfully balanced life that you love.

64

:

And I was out of balance

as an entrepreneur.

65

:

I was hustling but not happy.

66

:

I had a real burnout moment in New York

City when I was really grinding my face

67

:

off, working a hundred plus hour weeks,

getting less than five hours of sleep.

68

:

I was, soliciting a seven figure

VC funding deal for my tech

69

:

startup with my brother and

business partner and best friend.

70

:

we ended up in partnerships with

Microsoft and IBM and had this really

71

:

great opportunity to scale our business.

72

:

And I just got to the, the

table when it came time to sign

73

:

in the deals and, you know.

74

:

I couldn't take the money.

75

:

we said no to the funding.

76

:

We folded the company.

77

:

I moved to Bangkok, Thailand to

figure out a better way to work

78

:

and live, you know, 'cause I was

just so unfulfilled, so burned out.

79

:

And that's where the

Happy Hustle was born.

80

:

And that's where the 10 alignments

started to take shape Really now it's

81

:

morphed into this framework that initially

just scratched my own itch, you know?

82

:

Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.

83

:

Speaker 2: Just of being burnout myself.

84

:

And now the 10 alignments and, and this

soul mapping acronym has helped thousands

85

:

of other happy hustlers just create

that blissful balance in their life.

86

:

Speaker: I love that, and

I am, I can't help it.

87

:

This is so important to me.

88

:

And I felt like before I heard you,

I was balanced and I found myself

89

:

listening and taking notes and going,

oh, I'm kind of missing it on this note.

90

:

So I love, I actually

have 'em written down.

91

:

I love the soul map.

92

:

Oh, awesome.

93

:

Yeah, I can't wait.

94

:

Speaker 2: That's amazing.

95

:

Speaker: And I think the first one is

the S, which is the selfless service.

96

:

Speaker 2: Yeah.

97

:

What I would urge all of your

listeners, and you know, I think.

98

:

Podcasts are great, but when you are

an active participant is when you

99

:

really get the most out of podcasts.

100

:

And I would urge all your listeners

to go through and quantify where you

101

:

rank in each of these 10 alignments.

102

:

five would be your crushing it.

103

:

it's an A in terms of the grading scale,

you know, and then one would be an f.

104

:

Meaning you're failing.

105

:

you need to prioritize change accordingly.

106

:

So rank yourself, you know, one

through five in each of these

107

:

10 areas as we go through.

108

:

And the S stands for selfless

service, as Lisa mentioned.

109

:

the secret to living is giving.

110

:

So, identify right now where

you rank in this alignment.

111

:

Are you living for yourself and

just caught up in your own divorce

112

:

and, and caught up in your own?

113

:

Despair or are you starting to give

back to others and, and, you know,

114

:

thinking outside of yourself, you know,

rank yourself one to five in that area.

115

:

The O stands for Optimized Health.

116

:

You know, you have to have your

health both physically and mentally

117

:

and emotionally optimized in order to

happy hustle in any area and to get

118

:

through these tough times in your life.

119

:

You know, this is one of those things

where if you don't have your health dialed

120

:

in, everything else takes a back seat.

121

:

Especially now with Covid if you've

gotten sick from Covid, you know

122

:

how it just completely wrecks

your life and you're just, nothing

123

:

else matters, but getting healthy.

124

:

So.

125

:

Play good offense and start to

take care of yourself and rank

126

:

yourself right now, one to five

in this alignment, optimize help.

127

:

The U stands for unplugged digitally.

128

:

this is one of those, difficult,

alignments to really score

129

:

high end oftentimes because

we are so hyperconnected.

130

:

We are, watching movies and streaming

shows and on YouTube and then on social

131

:

media, and we're constantly connected.

132

:

But I really, truly believe

being disconnected is how you

133

:

can actually reconnect to your

true self and your true soul.

134

:

And, I'll just share something personal.

135

:

Right now I'm in a dopamine detox

where I'm doing no social media, no

136

:

movies, no YouTube, No streaming shows

or any of that for the whole week.

137

:

And I have had some of my most productive

days without those distractions.

138

:

So rank yourself in that

alignment unplugged digitally.

139

:

And then you have the

L loving relationships.

140

:

You know, we're talking about divorce

and we're talking about, you know,

141

:

getting back to loving relationships,

and this is an important one, obviously.

142

:

Depending on where you're at right

now, it might be a lower score.

143

:

But getting back to that five

in loving relationships is

144

:

really what life's all about.

145

:

Having that love, you know?

146

:

So that's the first, that's

the soul part at Lisa.

147

:

I'm curious if you're feeling

brave, you wanna share your,

148

:

your rankings and, and score?

149

:

Speaker: you know, and it's

interesting because when you

150

:

brought up selfless service.

151

:

What kind of hit me is

I'm a real good mama bear.

152

:

I take care of my family, I take

care of the things they're involved

153

:

in, but I don't think I look at the

bigger picture, and that's what I

154

:

noticed that's missing from my life.

155

:

So that is one thing I'm searching for,

starting to find a few of those things

156

:

because it's kind of selfish when I just.

157

:

You know, help those in my own little

hut and I wanna start reaching out.

158

:

So that was only a two on my score.

159

:

Mm.

160

:

Okay.

161

:

it was funny, optimizing health,

I thought, oh, I'm a four.

162

:

I'm pretty much a four.

163

:

I work pretty hard on that.

164

:

But then when you said

physical and emotional.

165

:

I went, oh, okay.

166

:

Maybe for physical, but

maybe not emotional.

167

:

So that's something I need to think of.

168

:

Mm-hmm.

169

:

I loved what you said about unplugging

digitally, because I do fasting,

170

:

like alternative day fasting, but

I'm pretty good about setting it

171

:

aside and being with my hubby mm-hmm.

172

:

Or my kids, or my grandson.

173

:

But I haven't done it for

that long of a period.

174

:

I haven't done it for a day.

175

:

'cause it's just such a part

of my work and my life, so.

176

:

Love that idea and would love to

experience what that feels like.

177

:

And then Carrie, Jack, this is what's

so different about me, is I have

178

:

been married for almost 30 years.

179

:

Wow.

180

:

So, yeah, and it's not all great.

181

:

It's impressive.

182

:

Speaker 2: I, none of them are, I mean,

every relationship has its adversity.

183

:

My fiance and I have our adversity

that we're working through

184

:

Speaker: but I'm gonna give myself

a five on that because, we really do

185

:

work together and it is hard work.

186

:

It's not easy, you know,

anything that's like this.

187

:

This is hard work to get yourself in a

better position, especially when you're

188

:

going through difficult times, so,

189

:

Speaker 3: mm-hmm.

190

:

Speaker: It was a little eye-opening to do

it again with you right here on the air.

191

:

Speaker 2: Yeah.

192

:

Well, and that's the thing guys, everyone

listening, just give yourself some grace.

193

:

You know, it's okay.

194

:

This is a baseline.

195

:

This is where you're at currently,

and I rank myself in these

196

:

10 alignments every Sunday.

197

:

So it's not a one and done type thing.

198

:

It's every single week.

199

:

I look at the week prior and I

look at, okay, where do I need to

200

:

prioritize change in the future?

201

:

This upcoming week.

202

:

Right, right.

203

:

And that's the, the difference, like

people talk about work-life balance as

204

:

this finite destination, and I truly

believe it's a never ending journey.

205

:

You know, it requires constant evaluation,

adjustments, tweaks, pivots, That's

206

:

why this framework, I think, has taken

off and people are really attaching

207

:

to it because it's a different way to

actually manifest this balance, but

208

:

not as this finite destination, but

as this constant work in progress.

209

:

Yeah.

210

:

So that's the sole part.

211

:

Now we're gonna dive into the mapping

part and again, you know, rank where

212

:

you're at in these, different alignments.

213

:

The M stands for mindful spirituality.

214

:

So this is, really important that you're

connecting to a higher power, that

215

:

you believe in something bigger than

yourself, that you're practicing, breath

216

:

work and meditation and gratitude daily.

217

:

I don't necessarily, you know, care

what God you believe in, but I just

218

:

care that you believe in something,

you know, and I just think it's

219

:

really important to have faith.

220

:

So that is a, a big, you know.

221

:

Alignment that I, I see a lot of

people, lacking in o oftentimes,

222

:

you know, some people are either all

in and, or some people are all out.

223

:

There's like, sometimes

there's very little in between.

224

:

So rank where you're at

one to five in that one.

225

:

the A stands for abundance financially.

226

:

Right.

227

:

It's gonna be difficult to happy hustle.

228

:

Your dream reality if you're

living paycheck to paycheck.

229

:

but we do need to focus on how you can

create a system that works for you,

230

:

that you can save, invest, and spend

wisely that is automated And you know,

231

:

this is one of those alignments that.

232

:

It seems like it's more important than

the others, but it's really, truly not.

233

:

It's just another piece to your puzzle,

but it is an important piece nonetheless.

234

:

So rank where you're at in

terms of abundance financially.

235

:

The first P is.

236

:

personal development.

237

:

I noticed that in the book.

238

:

Personal development is

the first p in the book.

239

:

I'll stick with the book, chapter

order, but personal development is,

240

:

you know, how often are you actually

reading and listening and, you

241

:

know, watching visually stimulating

and auditorily stimulating, like

242

:

educational and inspirational content.

243

:

You know, because you're

either growing and evolving.

244

:

Or you're shrinking and dissolving.

245

:

And those are literally the two options

when it comes to personal development.

246

:

So rank where you're at in that one.

247

:

The second P is passionate hobbies.

248

:

So this is, you know, are you actually

doing fun things for yourself and

249

:

getting out and filling your own cup.

250

:

And especially in tough times,

this is a very imperative alignment

251

:

that, again, I see most high

performers lacking in because they.

252

:

take care of other people and they're

worried about their business and

253

:

they're worried about, their kids.

254

:

And this is one of those where

you have to fill your own cup.

255

:

You have to, you know, go

do things that you enjoy.

256

:

I love snowboarding in the wintertime

out here and horseback riding in Montana

257

:

and fly fishing, and I practicing my

martial arts and playing soccer and, you

258

:

know, so I do these things regularly.

259

:

Okay.

260

:

And it's important that you do something

that you enjoy regularly as well.

261

:

So rank where you're at in that one

impactful work is okay, are you actually

262

:

getting up every day doing something

that you enjoy, that you feel fulfilled

263

:

doing, that you are infusing your

passion, you know, which is that I.

264

:

Inward facing calling with your purpose,

which is that outward serving mission.

265

:

Right?

266

:

And then ultimately, are you making

a positive impact in the process?

267

:

Right.

268

:

And I find a lot of people are

sacrificing their soul for their, for

269

:

their career, for their paycheck, In

order to truly happy hustle, this is one

270

:

of those alignments where you have to

really kind of rethink is what you're

271

:

doing for work right now, actually,

filling the void and creating impact

272

:

and infusing your passion and purpose.

273

:

So, rank where you're at in this one.

274

:

And that nature connection is, are

you getting outside and, tapping into

275

:

this beautiful planet and getting

away from the, toxic blue light

276

:

in our recycled air in our homes.

277

:

And, 96% of time is spent indoors

for the majority of individuals.

278

:

And so.

279

:

It's one of those things where

you have to just get outside

280

:

and enjoy our beautiful planet.

281

:

We're we're primal being, and oh, by

the way, you gotta protect it in the

282

:

process, you know, because a lot of us

are decimating our natural resources

283

:

with our choices that we're making

by voting with our dollar every day.

284

:

So become a conscious consumer.

285

:

This falls into this alignment, you know?

286

:

And I have actually another.

287

:

Eco company called Eco Breakthroughs,

that's fighting the plastic

288

:

pollution epidemic with my brother

and business partner again.

289

:

And you know, I'm very passionate

about being an eco warrior and, and

290

:

the simple change that you can make

just listening right now is support

291

:

more B corporations, you know, benefit

corporations that are very transparent.

292

:

You can look online.

293

:

At the list of B corporations such

as Patagonia, Ben and Jerry's, right?

294

:

The north face, you know, like there's

companies out there that are doing

295

:

the right thing and they know where

their supply chains are, you know,

296

:

like going awry and, and where they

actually fix 'em to create regenerative

297

:

practices and, and have sustainability

within their business model.

298

:

And so it's one of those, you know.

299

:

Alignments that is bigger than

just you getting outside, but it's

300

:

actually thinking with an eco mindset.

301

:

So that's nature connection.

302

:

You should have 10 scores right now, Lisa.

303

:

Let's hear it.

304

:

Speaker: mindful spirituality.

305

:

gratitude.

306

:

I'm gonna give myself like a

four, even a four and a half.

307

:

that's big to me.

308

:

And then abundance financially.

309

:

I do think, for a lot of my clients and

listeners, you're never really better

310

:

off after a divorce than you were before.

311

:

And so sadly, some of the hard work

that we do is getting that all straight.

312

:

if you're thinking about going through

this or going through a divorce,

313

:

you will get some peace if you can.

314

:

Get your budget down.

315

:

that isn't another worry that you have,

gives you a little freedom to live your

316

:

life when you have things in place.

317

:

Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.

318

:

Speaker: I love that

one for our listeners.

319

:

And it's a hard one.

320

:

personal development, oh my gosh.

321

:

I love everything.

322

:

And my drive, my husband crazy.

323

:

When are you gonna stop growing?

324

:

Because I just always have a new

idea, and that's why I love having

325

:

you on and sharing this with my people

because it's so important to me to keep

326

:

growing and learning, I'm gonna give

myself a pretty high score on that.

327

:

I don't think I actually

put a score on that one.

328

:

it would be a three.

329

:

But this is interesting and I've forgot

to tell you, Carrie, Jack, another reason

330

:

that I love you is I'm a horse girl.

331

:

Speaker 2: Oh, awesome.

332

:

Speaker: I got one back here

333

:

Speaker 2: Amazing.

334

:

There you go.

335

:

Speaker: barn, because

I do this from my barn.

336

:

Oh, awesome.

337

:

And then I have a couple other

horses, but do you wanna know

338

:

what I knew I was really bad at?

339

:

At the hobby thing and like I

call going on to run a hobby.

340

:

'cause I think it kind of is.

341

:

Or like self-help stuff.

342

:

Hobbies.

343

:

But do you know that since.

344

:

Covid hit.

345

:

I have not ridden a horse, and I

am like, I can't even believe it.

346

:

And it just, that just hit me today.

347

:

And so that's something I really

need to work on and I've missed that.

348

:

I call all my self growth things,

my hobbies, but in reality, where's

349

:

the, the golf with my husband?

350

:

I hadn't done that either.

351

:

He's been going, but I haven't.

352

:

So, It's just good for me to learn that.

353

:

And then that nature connection,

354

:

Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.

355

:

Speaker: of course you're gonna

wanna be good to the planet

356

:

when you're out in nature.

357

:

And Carrie, Jack, that is not

easy to do living where we live.

358

:

'cause we're going below

zero here this week.

359

:

but you just load on all your gear.

360

:

And you look like a mummy and

you walk out and you at least

361

:

get out there a little bit.

362

:

Speaker 3: Yep.

363

:

Speaker: it's so

different in this climate.

364

:

I am such a summertime girl.

365

:

Outside every second.

366

:

The sun is shining.

367

:

I just wanna be out there.

368

:

And then it totally reverses.

369

:

And I don't know, Montana's

probably a little different.

370

:

a little sunnier, I think.

371

:

A little warmer.

372

:

Speaker 2: it's pretty

chilly here too sometimes.

373

:

But yeah, right now we're about

30, you know, so it's not too bad.

374

:

Speaker: No, that sounds good to me.

375

:

And I think we're about that here now

too, but I just, I love all of this If

376

:

people who are going through divorce can

start looking at this and growing, I want

377

:

them to be better after this experience.

378

:

I don't want 'em to go through this again.

379

:

Mm-hmm.

380

:

And I don't want their kids to go through

something bad By taking care of yourself.

381

:

You're taking care of your kids.

382

:

You're teaching them how

to care for themselves.

383

:

You're being a better parent.

384

:

And Carrie Jack, this is a really

awesome thing, is that you can mitigate

385

:

the issues that a child has with

a divorce when you work together.

386

:

Both parents work together.

387

:

Yeah.

388

:

So that is always my, I have

a parenting plan course.

389

:

that is my dream that

people can do it together.

390

:

And there are people doing

this a different way.

391

:

It doesn't have to be

cutthroat and fighting.

392

:

It can be, an amazing growth experience.

393

:

And so having you here today.

394

:

Is helping me spread that to my listeners

and my clients, so I so appreciate it.

395

:

Yeah.

396

:

And we're gonna have all your good

information in the show notes,

397

:

but tell us how can, what's the

best way to connect with you?

398

:

Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I just want

to echo, you know, taking ego out of

399

:

it and working together as parents.

400

:

I think that's the catalyst to

having a healthy separation.

401

:

And, yeah, if you can.

402

:

Start to look at your life with

this holistic approach to balance

403

:

and these 10 alignments hopefully

can help serve in some capacity.

404

:

I do wanna mention one thing

when it comes to happy hustling.

405

:

And the biggest key principle is you must

focus on each of these 10 alignments.

406

:

One at a time.

407

:

Okay.

408

:

So a lot of people, you know, when

they're at work, they're thinking

409

:

about their family or their divorce,

you know, and when they're with their

410

:

family, they're thinking about work.

411

:

This principle of happy

hustling is really focusing on.

412

:

Each of these different

alignments and being all in.

413

:

When I'm talking to Lisa, I'm all here.

414

:

when I'm going to work

out, I'm getting after it.

415

:

when I'm fly fishing, I'm

not checking emails, right.

416

:

Each thing on your calendar needs

to have equal importance, and you

417

:

need to focus on it one at a time.

418

:

So that's just a important piece

to this happy hustle and puzzle.

419

:

in terms of connecting with me, the best

possible thing for your listeners would

420

:

probably be, to just either listen to

the podcast, the Happy Hustle Podcast.

421

:

And, pick up a copy of the book if you

want to go deeper in these 10 alignments.

422

:

The Happy Hustle book.com.

423

:

We're actually doing a promo.

424

:

I really want this content out

there and to spread the message.

425

:

So we're doing, basically the

first thousand copies for free.

426

:

If you just go to the

Happy Hustle book.com.

427

:

I'll just help out with

shipping and handling.

428

:

It'll go right to your doorstep.

429

:

And then there's an option if

you want to get the audio book

430

:

and you wanna get an extra copy.

431

:

And there's some options.

432

:

There's, for my course, if you

wanted to go deeper, even still.

433

:

But that's probably the best

place, the happiest of book.com.

434

:

thank you again, Lisa.

435

:

I really appreciate

you and your listeners.

436

:

divorce is a son of a gun, but

437

:

You'll get through it.

438

:

whatever adversity arises in your

life ultimately makes you stronger.

439

:

It has made me stronger as a kid

going through divorce and I vowed

440

:

to never get divorced myself.

441

:

I've been very diligent with

my partner choice I'm praying

442

:

that I don't ever get divorced.

443

:

I know people change and life

happens, but ultimately just keep

444

:

your head up, keep going, and, it'll

make you stronger in the long run.

445

:

Speaker: Yep.

446

:

And I think you've got

the mindset for it, sir.

447

:

I think you are gonna have a lot of

happiness in that future relationship.

448

:

I really can feel it.

449

:

You know the work and

you're helping other people.

450

:

So thank you Care Jack, honestly, so much.

451

:

Thank you.

452

:

I so appreciate you being here

and taking the time for me and my

453

:

listeners, and adding value and

changing my life a little bit too.

454

:

Speaker 2: I received that, Lisa.

455

:

Speaker: Peace and love,

456

:

Speaker 2: everyone.

457

:

Speaker: Take care.
