Welcome to Saddle Up Live.

2

:

I'm thankful that you're joining me today.

3

:

Really thankful.

4

:

And I am actually in my daughter's

house that she's moving out

5

:

of, um, because she's coming.

6

:

back home, uh, getting, she'll

be done with her residency.

7

:

So she's getting a job near us.

8

:

So I am helping with

Oliver, which is really fun.

9

:

I just brought him to daycare and

really enjoying my time with him.

10

:

So I feel so blessed.

11

:

And what I want to share with you today is

kind of to introduce this little session.

12

:

Today is actually the day that one year

ago I learned that I had breast cancer.

13

:

Now, I ended up learning that I

had, they caught stage one and

14

:

that, you know, they call me cured

now, um, so that's a blessing.

15

:

But a year ago, I wasn't sure about

that, and it's been a journey, you know,

16

:

I did have to go through hard things.

17

:

I went through surgery and chemo and

radiation and all that stuff can scare the

18

:

hell out of a girl, I'm gonna swear, yep.

19

:

and um, but when I look at today

and I see how I've grown and um, my

20

:

journey has strengthened, I wanna help.

21

:

You listeners by sharing my

story and what I keep learning.

22

:

So a year ago, I was terrified.

23

:

I, I had done a lot of work in

my life to discover things and to

24

:

try to get over an anxiety, but my

anxiety for healthcare was at a high.

25

:

And as you know, I've worked through it.

26

:

I've had the blessing

of surrendering to God.

27

:

Which is the biggest thing and moving

forward and being less afraid like I

28

:

truly am less afraid and you can get

there, so That's kind of exciting.

29

:

You know, today is a new day.

30

:

Today, I know that this past year was

hard, but that I learned how to rest.

31

:

I'm writing a book, like, dedicated

to it, and gonna be talking about

32

:

some fun things coming up about that.

33

:

So, we've come full circle, and I wanted

to use this episode to talk a little

34

:

bit, remember how I talked about gift?

35

:

It's a couple weeks ago and finding

your gifts and using them because when

36

:

you have that, when you are working

in your calling, which I do believe,

37

:

um, I've spent a lot of time and it

might keep ebbing and flowing that

38

:

as I change from doing more legal

work into doing mediations and now

39

:

my work is changing even more into

this podcast and into coaching and to

40

:

helping people stay married as well as

amicably divorce, um, Using those gifts.

41

:

It's so important to go back

and listen if you're trying to

42

:

figure out what your gifts are.

43

:

Today, what I want to share, because I

feel excitement, is there are things that

44

:

I've learned, um, well, through the Bible

and through Tony Robbins, of course.

45

:

You know how much I love Tony.

46

:

And as I was, um, coming to my

daughter's home, it's quite a drive

47

:

and I listened to one of his books.

48

:

It was a really old one.

49

:

But it's always good for me to You know,

take a step back and listen to things

50

:

that I've learned from him before.

51

:

And I thought it was really interesting

because, um, what I listened to

52

:

from Tony was about personal power.

53

:

And we know, um, from past podcasts

that I love Tony's message of waking

54

:

up with scripture every, every day

to have God with you on your journey.

55

:

And that's been so important to me,

uh, because it's part of my calling.

56

:

really keeps me grounded.

57

:

And so that's why I love Tony's message.

58

:

But this message is talking about

personal power and about taking action.

59

:

And it was really interesting

because in correlation with

60

:

that, the Bible study that I was

doing was about Exodus and Moses.

61

:

And I thought, Oh, isn't it interesting

that when Moses, Moses parted the Red

62

:

Sea, God didn't just do it for him.

63

:

He said, Moses, raise your

arm, or whatever it was, and,

64

:

and that's how the sea parted.

65

:

So he used Moses actions.

66

:

And it was, and then, okay, so then

another piece of my Bible study was

67

:

about how the Israelites kept wanting to

leave, and Pharaoh kept saying they could

68

:

go, and then he would change his mind.

69

:

It's about being persistent and

I thought, Oh, this is so cool.

70

:

Crazy that I get to all these

things are coming together.

71

:

So the Tony Robbins personal power

and then the lessons through the Bible

72

:

that I never saw before about You know

taking action And god will use you in

73

:

those actions Isn't that beautiful?

74

:

So I got really excited about that.

75

:

I heard a story.

76

:

This is funny about colonel Sanders

which kind of ties in with this.

77

:

Okay, so we all know kentucky fried

chicken I don't even know if they're

78

:

around anymore, but they were a big

deal and they were successful This is

79

:

what I want you to know Do you know that

Colonel Sanders started his pursuit of

80

:

the Chicken Empire at the age of 65?

81

:

That's when he started.

82

:

I'm not even 65.

83

:

And so if you're out there thinking that

you can't do something, That isn't true.

84

:

And we all know that, that, you know,

if you believe you can't, you can't.

85

:

And if you believe you can, you can't.

86

:

Well, Colonel Sanders

believed that he could.

87

:

And what was so interesting about him,

well, one, I love that he started at 65.

88

:

So I feel like I've got

the world all ahead of me.

89

:

And you know what we do, no matter what

age, um, and he got, uh, 1, 009 no's.

90

:

before he got a yes.

91

:

So if you think about that like I think

I've spent a lot of my life where I've

92

:

been like oh well God shut the door so

I'm just gonna turn around and leave

93

:

well you know what that may not be true.

94

:

Pharaoh kept saying no you have to believe

it and keep moving Forward to get it and

95

:

you know, that's kind of my story with

my book and I'm actually taking action

96

:

I can't tell you about it today, but I

will be able to tell you more about it in

97

:

upcoming podcast but I am taking action

and I'm doing it and That's scary to me.

98

:

Just like things that you're doing

are scary to you, but Just as a baby

99

:

like think about a little baby and

they start walking When do they quit?

100

:

When do they quit trying to walk?

101

:

They don't.

102

:

They don't quit until they walk.

103

:

Look at that example, and I am

stealing that from Tony Robbins,

104

:

but that example carries me.

105

:

You don't quit until you

get to where you want to go.

106

:

And I think what's important about

that is you need faith plus works.

107

:

So you need that energy and excitement

and you can, you can make that up.

108

:

Like I'm not kidding, I think I've said

in the past, I can be super down and

109

:

downtrodden and I get up and I jump

and I dance around and it does help.

110

:

It's weird, I know, but it helps

and that's why moving your body,

111

:

going out for a walk is always

so, um, good for your whole self,

112

:

your whole body, your whole brain.

113

:

So you need that energy, excitement.

114

:

And you also need to be able to

define exactly what you want.

115

:

And that's what I've noticed with

the NLP work that I've been doing.

116

:

Marie keeps saying,

well, what do you want?

117

:

And it's hard.

118

:

And, and go back to that gifts too, to

figure out what your gifts are, because

119

:

it's a little bit tied to what you want.

120

:

So figure out what you want

and make sure that's a skill.

121

:

And, um, it's hard to define because

I, you know, you, I want success.

122

:

And I want to take care

of my grandchildren.

123

:

So, you want both, right?

124

:

But you have to know what you want,

and to keep going until you get it.

125

:

It doesn't mean that you have to

hurt anyone, or that you can't

126

:

be meeting the needs of your

family, because you want that too.

127

:

So, those are skills that Tony talks

about needing, is the discipline and the

128

:

faith, so it's the faith plus the work.

129

:

Knowing that you can do it just like a

baby they don't know that they know that

130

:

they're gonna walk eventually it's just in

them know that and then know what you want

131

:

so I'm just I'm looking at my notes he had

five agree I think he had seven agreements

132

:

and I changed to five because I like

five of them and what I liked about this

133

:

is I always act from personal power and

take action I always succeed in producing

134

:

a result So, think about it this way.

135

:

There are no failures.

136

:

There are just results.

137

:

So when Colonel Sanders was going

out and asking people, Hey, do you

138

:

want to try this chicken recipe?

139

:

And they said, No, that was a result.

140

:

Don't beat yourself up.

141

:

We're all done with that, right?

142

:

Guys, we don't need to do that anymore.

143

:

We are learning and growing and you

are acting toward getting a result.

144

:

So it's not about What that result is

it's about learning from it and moving

145

:

and going again for another result.

146

:

So no failure just results I wish I

would have taught my kids that more You

147

:

know, like why are mistakes so negative?

148

:

They're not we're learning always.

149

:

Okay.

150

:

Here's the second thing that I love I

am totally responsible for my world.

151

:

Now, you know, I carry God with me,

but I am responsible for my world.

152

:

I am responsible for how I am treated.

153

:

I am responsible for how I feel.

154

:

So when you look at it that way you

take control and you set boundaries

155

:

and you you change your life.

156

:

Now this piece number two is

about my, a lot about mindset.

157

:

And so I have lots of podcasts on

that and I'm working on a course

158

:

about that, but that also is such a

huge, um, piece of this because, you

159

:

know, you think about a year ago.

160

:

So I got diagnosed with stage one breast

cancer and I took A long time to learn

161

:

that because I had surgery in April and

you know, they learned more from that.

162

:

And so I kept hearing good

things, but it was scary.

163

:

So I took responsibility for how I felt.

164

:

I did go in on anxiety medication

because I was so scared and

165

:

I needed to pull out of it.

166

:

And then I worked on my

mindset and I did what I could.

167

:

I took care of myself, I rested, I

walked, and I learned things that

168

:

I'm going to be putting in my book

to help us through hard times, to

169

:

help us thrive through hard times.

170

:

So that, I mean, what a blessing, right?

171

:

Okay, here's the third one, which

I love, which has been new to me.

172

:

I'm always stretching

and making it public.

173

:

So, like, I'm writing my book.

174

:

Now, I did say that years ago.

175

:

I was going to write a book about,

um, adoption, and that still

176

:

might be something that I do.

177

:

Always stretch.

178

:

Because I have kept myself from

stretching because I, you know,

179

:

me, I'm a people pleaser and I,

what are people going to think?

180

:

Or, you know, what if I say I'm

writing the book and it turns out only

181

:

being a book that's here to help me?

182

:

Well, then it's a book

that's here to help me.

183

:

And so I'm going to continue to stretch

and I'm going to, and I'll tell you

184

:

in another episode, um, some things

that I'm doing that I'm stretching.

185

:

to get this book done and to

really work on it and to really

186

:

do it and to believe that I can.

187

:

And there's exciting things about that.

188

:

And yeah, I can go, um, I

don't know how to write.

189

:

I don't know if I can do it.

190

:

Well, I can share my stories.

191

:

I've been through things and I just

want God to use me to help you.

192

:

So I am going to keep stretching.

193

:

And I can do that in so many ways.

194

:

I can do that through horses cause

I get scared of horses sometimes.

195

:

Well, I can keep working on that fear.

196

:

I'm afraid to, you know, do a podcast.

197

:

I'm afraid to go on podcasts while

I've been stretching and going on them.

198

:

So I'm not afraid of podcasts anymore.

199

:

I did get over that, but, um, so that's

the third one is to always stretch.

200

:

The fourth is, um, to model

someone who is already doing it.

201

:

And it just helps to watch someone and

I've learned, I have learned to pay good

202

:

money for getting someone to help me

who's already done it and that is the real

203

:

way to do it and that's kind of what I'm

trying to do with going through this hard

204

:

thing and learning, I wanted to help you.

205

:

So model somebody who's

successful in what you want to do.

206

:

And sometimes I remember

feeling like, well, no one's

207

:

doing exactly what I'm doing.

208

:

And I had a little bit of

a struggle finding someone.

209

:

to model because my mediation

business was, um, different.

210

:

So what I would do is I would find people

who were doing different things, like

211

:

this person was doing a podcast and this

person was doing this and model them.

212

:

But what I had to remember was that I am

one person and my family is important too.

213

:

And so I could get really wrapped up

in, Oh, I've got to do 5, 000 Instagram

214

:

posts and I need to get followers.

215

:

And if you look at my Instagram, I don't

have a ton of followers because I haven't

216

:

been putting the effort into that.

217

:

because I can't right now.

218

:

I, you know, maybe at some point I'll

hire someone and do more, but you

219

:

have to have realistic expectations

too, so that you're not harming anyone

220

:

along the way that's important to you.

221

:

And that kind of flows into

always act from integrity.

222

:

Um, You know, sometimes we can

try to do things quicker or cheat

223

:

on your taxes or whatever it is.

224

:

Let's work hard not to do that.

225

:

Let's, um, let our word be

what our word is and act with

226

:

integrity and follow your values.

227

:

Um, it's important.

228

:

It's so important.

229

:

brings you some peace.

230

:

So that was the fifth one.

231

:

Um, I did want to say in number four, when

I was talking about modeling someone's

232

:

behavior, I'm going to jump back to that

one because I missed it in my notes.

233

:

Um, I have seven character

traits of successful people

234

:

that I got from Tony Robbins.

235

:

So this is kind of part of that modeling.

236

:

They have passion that drives them.

237

:

So that's what you think about.

238

:

What are your gifts?

239

:

What do you like to do?

240

:

And you have a passion that drives

you because that's your calling.

241

:

So these people have passion.

242

:

They have a belief in their

ability to achieve just like the

243

:

toddler who's starting to walk.

244

:

It's that simple.

245

:

Have belief.

246

:

And like I said before, either if

you believe you can, you can, if

247

:

you believe you can't, you can't.

248

:

And of course, we have

physical limitations.

249

:

So, you know, be aware of that,

but you can you can do it.

250

:

Okay.

251

:

The 3rd thing is they have a strategy.

252

:

So.

253

:

It is important to, and that's where I

was telling you that I use these people

254

:

that are successful and model after them,

and I use their strategies in my life.

255

:

And that's where that mindset

comes in, that you can go back

256

:

and listen to that podcast.

257

:

They have a great energy level.

258

:

They're connected with others.

259

:

They value working with other

people and they develop, the last

260

:

one is they develop communication.

261

:

And I love communication and it's so

important how we communicate with our

262

:

loved ones, including ourselves, right?

263

:

I think that sometimes we can.

264

:

Forget to talk loving to our husband,

forget to be encouraging to our children.

265

:

And honeys, those are, they are like

the most important people, right?

266

:

And so are you.

267

:

And so when you think about how you're

talking to yourself, That is so key.

268

:

Tell yourself, like, what you

would tell a good friend or

269

:

someone that you care about.

270

:

Tell yourself that you're beautiful.

271

:

Tell yourself that, oh, well, you

know, look at what you learned.

272

:

Don't focus on what you didn't learn.

273

:

So.

274

:

And that is it for today.

275

:

This went longer than I usually, when

I'm by myself I usually go shorter,

276

:

but I wanted to share that with you.

277

:

And I am going to be doing some of

these solo because I'm traveling

278

:

around trying to help out my kiddos

and um, helping with grandkids.

279

:

But I'm so happy, so grateful,

and so thankful, uh, for where

280

:

things have ended up this year.

281

:

And I'm thankful for what I, thankful for

what I've been through, and I'm thankful

282

:

for all of you, so you take good care.
